Christine Montgomery, and Dr. Susan Farrell discuss the top 10 mistakes and tips from DivoceMATE as well as how to deal with difficult people from a clinical perspective.

Presenters

Dr. Susan Farrell

Dr. Susan Farrell is a Clinical Psychologist and the Clinical Director of the Community Mental Health Program at the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group. Her clinical work has focused on persons with mental illness and supporting them in community-based models of care. She is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Ontario and in Nunavut. She also does a lot of clinical work at the systems-level facilitating communication among a range of stakeholders, often with differing vantage points on issues. She is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine and a Clinical Professor in the School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa. Dr Farrell is an active researcher in community-based research and evaluation of services for persons with mental illness. She was recently made a Fellow of the Canadian Psychological Association for her national contributions to Psychology and society. Dr Farrell has been a frequent faculty presenter for the National Judicial Institute across Canada and has also enjoyed speaking with CCLA members on brain health at an education day at The Royal.

Christine Montgomery

Christine Montgomery obtained her Bachelor of Laws in 1990 from the University of Toronto, and was called to the Bar in 1992. Initially practicing civil and commercial litigation, Christine ultimately left to pursue an exclusive family law practice. In January of 2005, Christine joined DivorceMate Software Inc. as a consultant, initially assigned the specific task of interpreting the then newly released Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines (the “SSAG”) and assisting in the development of the SSAG calculator. Since that time, Christine has been involved in numerous ongoing family law projects at DivorceMate, including assisting in the development of the “Tools One” software and recently the new DM Cloud product line, drafting and maintaining various precedents in the “Precedents One” software, conducting training sessions, writing articles pertaining to the software and new developments in family law, and presenting at numerous legal forums.
