Aaron Franks and Kristy Warren present the Family Law “ Year in Review.”

Presenters

Aaron Franks

Aaron Franks was called to the Bar of Ontario in1998, and received his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School (1996), and an M.B.A from the Schulich School of Business (1996). Since Aaron's call to the bar in 1998, he has practiced exclusively in the areas of family law (and related areas) and in the defence of solicitor's negligence claims. Aaron has acted as counsel at all levels of court in Ontario, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He is regularly referred appellate work by his peers and consulted for strategic advice. Aaron also acts as a mediator and arbitrator. Aaron has been appointed as a Dispute Resolution Officer for the Superior Court of Justice in Toronto. He is an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School where he teaches family law, and he is an Associate Editor of the Reports of Family Law. He was also an instructor with the Family Law Section of the Bar Admission Course. Aaron is currently Co-Chair of the Six-Minute Family Lawyer, and he is frequently asked to author papers and to present at legal education programs in Ontario and elsewhere in Canada. His papers and articles have been published in a wide variety of books and other publications. He is married with three children. In 2015, Aaron was named family law "Lawyer of the Year" by Best Lawyer International.

Kristy Warren

Kristy Warren is the Knowledge Management & Practice Support lawyer at Epstein Cole LLP and practises exclusively in family law. Kristy graduated from the University of Toronto Law School and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2016. In her role, Kristy provides guidance and support to the firm's lawyers in their practices, and strategic input into complex and novel legal issues for trial and appeal advocacy. She is a valuable resource to the firm, facilitating efficient exchange of knowledge and lawyer development to the benefit of the firm's clients, as the firm maintains its reputation as the leading family law firm in the country. Kristy is an Associate Editor of the Reports of Family Law and assists with "Franks & Zalev, This Week in Family Law", a weekly family law newsletter published in FamilySource by WestlawNext Canada.
