Victoria Shroff

Victoria Shroff was born near the Serengeti, she is credited as one of the first and longest serving animal law lawyers in Canada and the longest serving in Western Canada. Shroff has practiced animal law for 20+ years in downtown Vancouver at Shroff & Associates and has been Adjunct Professor of animal law at UBC’s Allard School of Law for the past few years. She founded and taught a new course in animal law for Capilano University, is chair and founder of the Canadian Animal Law Study Group.

Shroff helped establish a ground-breaking pro-bono animal law clinic with the Law Students Legal Advice Program. Shroff has represented animals at all levels of court. She was a finalist for Canadian Lawyers’ Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in Canada in 2020, 2019, 2018, and was awarded a prestigious SEEDS award for her trailblazing work.  Frequently interviewed about animal matters in  media, Shroff lectures on animal law in Canada, USA, Europe and Asia, regularly contributes animal law articles for publications.

Shroff founded and teaches ‘Paws of Empathy’, her animal law program for kids which she teaches with dogs. Moreover, Shroff is featured in an animal law anthem by professor Kislowicz.
