The Frontenac Law Association brings you this program presented by The Honourable George R. Strathy, Former Chief Justice of Ontario. The former Chief Justice offers his reflections on the importance of mental health in the legal profession, and what firms can do to destigmatize mental health issues and increase their lawyers’ resilience to the stress of the profession.
The Honourable George Strathy discusses the prevalence of burnout, depression, and substance abuse within the legal profession, and provides knowledge on how lawyers can improve mental health and wellness by avoiding overwork, and allocating time for relaxation. The former Chief Justice gives insight into his own personal experiences with mental illness and considers the harmful perceptions within the legal profession that cause lawyers to trivialize their mental health.
