Kathryn Basran

Kathryn Basran is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan Law School and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1995. Her practice focuses primarily on high-conflict matrimonial disputes involving property worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Kathryn volunteers for several organizations. She has been a guest lecturer for the Professional Legal Training Course, volunteers regularly for Access to Justice, and has been an annual editor of the BC Family Law Practice Manual since 2005. Kathryn is the section head of the B.C. Bar Association Family Law Section and as part of her litigation practice, appears at the Provincial, Supreme Court and Court of Appeal levels. Kathryn has authored and presented papers on several topics, such as the Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines, custody, and mobility for Continuing Legal Education.

Prior to attending law school Kathryn was a member of the Canadian National Swim Team for 6 years. She is very involved in the community and has volunteered her time as a fundraiser for the United Way, as a past board of director for the Richmond Women's Resource Centre, and provides pro bono legal services for Access to Justice.
