Suzie Dunn is PhD student and part time professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa. Her research centers on the intersections of gender, equality, technology and the law, with a specific focus the non-consensual distribution of intimate images, deepfakes, and impersonation in digital spaces.
Master Marie T. Fortier was called to the bar in 1983 and appointed as case management master for the Superior Court of Justice in Ottawa in October 2016. Master Fortier has served in a variety of adjudicative and quasi-judicial roles. She has held the position of deputy judge of the Small Claims Court, associate chair of the Animal Care Review Board, and Regional Director of Education with the Law Society of Upper Canada. Master Fortier litigated civil matters at all levels of Ontario courts, in both French and English in her previous career as a litigator in private practice. Master Fortier has been active in her community, providing legal guidance and leadership for local environmental, education, and sports organizations. She has also volunteered her time with local youth softball and hockey teams.
Cale has been a lawyer in the Civil Litigation Practice Group at Tierney Stauffer LLP since joining the firm in 2009. His practice involves the representation of plaintiffs in personal injury litigation. He also practices in the area of estate litigation where he acts for clients involved in disputes relating to estates, trusts, wills, powers of attorney and guardianship. Cale has acted for clients in proceedings before the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, and various administrative tribunals and professional governing bodies. He will also represent athletes and sport organizations in disputes before the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada. Cale is currently a volunteer with Law Help Ontario and is the Chairman of the organizing committee for the annual Lawyers for Kids Charity Hockey Tournament which raises funds for the YMCA/YWCA before and after-school children’s programs.
Alessia Petricone-Westwood is an associate at Nelligan O’Brien Payne LLP. Alessia graduated magna cum laude from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law in 2014. She joined Nelligan O’Brien Payne LLP as an articling student in 2014 prior to her call to the Ontario Bar in 2015. Alessia’s areas of practice include plaintiff’s personal injury, insurance defence litigation, including professional liability and motor vehicle liability, and estate litigation.
Jeff is proud to serve as a Co-Chair of the “Trembello” Planning Committee. Jeff received his LL.B. at the University of Ottawa (programme de common law français) in 2001 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2002. In January, 2012, Jeff co-founded the bilingual litigation boutique CazaSaikaley s.r.l./LLP. Jeff practices general civil litigation in both official languages, with an emphasis on commercial litigation, defamation and employment law. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys spending time with his two young boys Maxwell and Felix, playing poker and ball hockey.
