Scott Hutchison

Scott Hutchison is a partner at Henein Hutchison LLP. His practice includes criminal, regulatory and constitutional litigation, with a particular interest in white collar crime and appellate advocacy. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, a member of the Supreme Court Advocacy Institute and has been recognized in Best Lawyers in Canada for Appellate Law and Criminal Defence. His recent practice has included advising in relation to complex business crime investigations, and representing individuals and entities in serious criminal cases at all levels of court. He has argued numerous criminal and civil appeals and trials, including hundreds of matters in the Ontario Court of Appeal and more than two dozen cases in the Supreme Court of Canada. Prior to forming Henein Hutchison LLP, Scott was a partner at a top 10 litigation boutique in downtown Toronto, from 2005 to 2012.

Howard Krongold

Howard Krongold is a partner at Abergel Goldstein & Partners LLP. His practice focusses on criminal and quasi-criminal appeals and complex trials. Howard has argued several significant cases before the Supreme Court of Canada, and has appeared as lead counsel in over 60 appeals before the Court of Appeal for Ontario. Howard is also an adjunct professor of law at the University of Ottawa, where he teaches The Law of Evidence, and he regularly lectures at professional education conferences. He is currently a director of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association.

Justice Robert Maranger

Justice Maranger graduated from the University of Ottawa in 1984 and was called to the Bar in 1986. He practiced Litigation in the City of Sudbury from 1986 to 2001, including Criminal, Civil and Family Litigation. His practice included six years as an agent for the Federal Government, prosecuting cases under the Control Drugs and Substances Act, conducting trials in both English and French. Justice Maranger is the Past-President of the Sudbury District Law Association from 1995 to 1996. Justice Maranger was appointed to the Superior Court of Justice on October 31, 2001.

The Honourable Justice Renee Pomerance

The Honourable Renee Pomerance was a lawyer with the Crown Law Office - Criminal Division of the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario in Toronto. She was appointed to the Superior Court of Justice in November 2006. Justice Pomerance received a Bachelor of Laws in 1987 and a Bachelor of Science (Honours - with distinction) in 1984 from the University of Toronto and was admitted to the Bar of Ontario in 1989. She practised with Crown Law Office - Criminal, Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario (1989-2006) with leaves of absence to act as counsel to the Honourable Peter Cory during his involvement in the Weston Park Inquiry in the United Kingdom (2002-2003), and to act as Senior Advisor at the National Judicial Institute, Ottawa (2003-2004). Her practice expertise was in the areas of criminal law, constitutional law, and judicial education.
