Raquel joined Emond Harnden in 2004 after her call to the Bar and her term as an articling student with the firm. She has built an extensive practice in both jurisdictions in the areas of privacy law, human rights, disability management and pay equity. Before embarking on her legal career, Raquel worked for The War Amputations of Canada for seven years and developed an expertise in many areas of charity and not-for-profit management. During that time, Raquel became a member of the Canadian Society of Association Executives (“CSAE”) and earned her Certified Association Executive (“CAE”) designation through its Association Management Education Program.
Stephanie Lewis is an employment lawyer with Dentons Canada LLP, where she practices in all areas of management-side employment and labour law and conducts workplace investigations. As part of her practice, she regularly advises clients on best practices for starting out an employment relationship on the right foot and with strong contractual terms. She also assists ongoing workplace management issues. When Stephanie isn’t discussing the ins and outs of employment law, she can be found spending time with her husband, kids and their new puppy, Barkley
Melissa Seal was called to Bar in 2008, and practiced in a full-service regional firm with a focus on labour, employment, and human rights until 2019 when she moved to an in-house role. She is currently Senior Legal Counsel at Queen’s University, but enjoyed a brief secondment as Acting Director of Employee and Labour Relations in 2022. Her present role involves oversight of litigation against the University and providing advice with respect to “student-facing issues,” which is exactly as nebulous as it sounds. When she’s not busy anticipating or responding to issues with adolescents and young adults (her own or someone else’s), she enjoys traveling with her husband and sewing.
Andrew is a founding partner of Vey Willetts LLP. Throughout his legal career, he has focused exclusively on workplace law and typically acts for individual employees, small-to-medium sized businesses, and charities. Andrew served on the Board of Directors for the Causeway Work Centre from 2016-2023 and currently sits as a board member for Ronald McDonald House Charities Ottawa. He also acts as a legal editor for First Reference’s Human Resources Policy-Pro (Ontario Edition).
